Description

INTRODUCTION Defense counsel may dream about themselves as noble defenders of the innocent, who are the victims of zealous prosecutors. If that will not do, a call upon the principle of the presumption of innocence lends nobility to the profession. Nevertheless, in many cases, this will not do because the presumption is often taken for granted and thus only paid lip service by some. In reality, the presumption of innocence is effectively not worth a legal penny. The vox populi (general public) often considers criminal lawyers "criminal," as criminal lawyers defend crooks, villains, or worse in the case of international crimes.
